Dashboard and Project Overviews
Reported by Robby Russell | August 11th, 2007 @ 12:21 PM
I've been noticing a problem while using Lighthouse. There really isn't enough of a distinction between being on the Dashboard versus a Project overview page. They look somewhat similar at first. I think that the interface could benefit from somehow highlighting what project scope you're currently within.
For example, perhaps some text in the header/above the subnavigation section of the design that displays the current projects name. Right now, the only way to know is to look in the browsers header, the url, or at the dropdown on the right of the page, which is usually reserved for secondary-type content.
When on the dashboard, it'd be nice to know that I was on the Dashboard... perhaps with a tab at the top that was highlighted or displaying header text that said 'Dashboard'. I find myself getting lost in the application and I've heard my coworkers mention similar concerns in the past as well.

As a paying customer, I'm wondering how valuable it is to have the Lighthouse logo in the top left of the page all the time. I wish it'd display the project name there or something. I don't need to be reminded that this is Lighthouse all the time. ;-)
Perhaps on free or public accounts, you could find a better way to highlight your product name, but you're advertising to existing customers and our customers, when we're using the application to get something done. You already have links in the footer and I think this is a great place for that sort of thing. However, the first link and content on every page is your logo and a link to your site.
When I'm logged into the system, I want the primary focus on adding and resolving tickets for the projects we're working on. I feel like this adds noise to the page and gets in the way more than stays out of it.
My 2 cents...

Okay, that isn't accurate, it directs you to the project overview page, which isn't very obvious. Just with this space was better used (ie., project name).
