Ticket Search

I don't see anywhere to search for tickets on here. If it exists it needs to be obvious.

In 1.0 there used to be a bar for searching that was always present, I believe justin wanted to keep the design as uncluttered as possible, and regular lighthouse users already knew what this was.
Frequent search queries you can save *ticket bins*, so they are always in your sidebar for quick access and number counts.

I'm sorry but I think it's poor UI. one shouldn't have to be instructed on the use of a bug tracker (especially if they've file several hundred bugs elsewhere (I have)).

I agree, one shouldn't have to think when it comes to UI, but I see a + and - to this one at the same time.
I've been a LH user for a very long time, since early beta days, and ticket bins have removed my need for the search in 95% of all cases, as well as for the members of my projects. So in the end, I can see how it's unnecessary clutter for a regular user, but confusing and needed to one who isn't fluid with the system/setup yet.

I'll be expanding this by default again on the tickets area, but as far as this being poor UI-- It's a fairly common convention. See Spotlight on Leopard and Tiger. Vista (I think) hides the search box behind the Windows/Start button. The iPhone also hides it behind a similar search button.

umm... I don't use any of those operating systems.
I have seen buttons like that before... and know what they are for. But to be honest I didn't even see it 'till someone pointed it out. Which is more the poor UI part than it being just an Icon... If I don't notice it, how can I use it, I do like having an immediate search though than following a link (because following a link means more work for me).
