Quicker way to switch projects

Reported by Robby Russell | April 21st, 2008 @ 02:44 PM

When working in one project and I need to switch to another project, I have to do the following.

(assume I'm already within one project)

  • Click on Dashboard
  • Click on Project name

While this is only _two clicks_, it's a time consuming task because I have to wait for the Dashboard page to load.

I'd love to be able to navigate from one project to another without needing the extra page load.

I noticed this as well. I miss the old drop down during times like this.

The little down arrow by the overview icon has a dropdown of your projects. Though, I personally think it could follow fitt's law a bit better.

humph...i don't think i would have noticed that without you pointing it out. Maybe a few weeks down the road I would have accidentally clicked on it or something.

Woah, didn't even notice that and since it's within the context of an individual project, I wouldn't think to look there for global navigation.

Mixing global and project-specific navigation so closely isn't very intuitive. ;-)

I would normally agree, but this is one place I feel comfortable breaking that rule. The drop down is in the context of Overview and list other Overviews/Projects you can access. It's a micro context for lack of a better phrase.

It might help to find a way to point out that this is there then. The tooltip doesn't say 'Switch project'.. and I didn't noticed it until Rick pointed it out.

I'd almost suggest moving the little arrow next to the project name up above that as people would see the connect between 'current project' and a dropdown of others.
