Please improve attachments ui

Reported by Matt Mower | April 24th, 2008 @ 07:23 AM | in Feature Requests

When you attach an image to a ticket it appears in the right hand bar under "attachments" with whatever crappy filename it had on disk.

My first problem with this is that, my initial reaction was that the attachment hadn't worked. This is because I wasn't expecting to look there and, hence, didn't notice an attachments area. It's not very visually distinctive so it doesn't draw your eye.

My second problem is that I really wanted the image to "flow" with the ticket. It's irritating that the user has to click the attachment to see the image then go back to read the accompanying text.

My third problem is with the crappy file name. I'd like to be able to rename it.

    Also I do realise that not all attachments are images but, where an attachment is an image, I would suggest that most often it would make sense for it to be visible on the ticket page.

    Also the formatting of the file name isn't great, see attachment!

    • → Milestone changed from “” to “Feature Requests”
    • → State changed from “new” to “open”

    Inline attachments are on the agenda.

    @Justin:

    See how you've got the milestone set and the state set inline with your comment? Why not put a note "Uploaded file _filename_" where filename is a link to the attachment? That's how Bugzilla does it.
