Sidebar Ticket Bin totals incorrect
Reported by Eshan Shah-Jahan | May 6th, 2008 @ 02:15 PM | in Phase Deuce
The ticket bins on the sidebar are showing incorrect totals. When I click the bin, the search results show the correct number of tickets, which does not match the number in the bin.
For example, I helped someone set up and share a bin for "responsible:me state:open" on his project. He had 8 tickets. I just looked at his project and the bin is showing 8 for me, too, even though I never had 8 tickets. Perhaps there's an error in caching around tickets involving "me"?

I noticed two instances where the bin counter was not completely accurate for about 2 minutes, but trying to force the counter in order to reproduce the delay in it isn't working. It's been speedy and spot on for the most part, especially during the first few weeks of the update to LH v2. Somewhere in the last 48 hours it seems some instances have appeared for me, not sure as to users results systemwide though.
Is it delayed for you? or completely inaccurate at all times?

At first I thought it was completely inaccurate, but it seems that I was seeing cached totals for someone else, as I mentioned above. The delays I'm talking about are not in the 2 minute neighborhood; they've been wrong for at least half an hour.

Grr... marked as spam. Anyway, I just checked the ticket bins to see if they had updated. I'm basically looking at someone else's results. The impersonal bins such as "All Open Tickets" are fine, but the personal ones (using the 'me' keyword) like "My Open Tickets" are showing me someone else's results.

Eshan, your tickets were indeed flagged as spam, i set them to ham, so the system should learn that you're not soon

Thanks Will. Am I the only one having this problem? The bins are pretty much always showing me someone else's numbers. Is there anything I can do?

You're not the only one, there is another ticket open for counter issues and a 2nd open for innacurate results. So I think its an issue systemwide. Although I'm having trouble replicating inaccurate search results at times. I'll be talking to Rick about this one later today.

Just to update on this. We're still looking into it. I just noticed my first incorrect counter though, where it says the ticket bin has 3, but when I click it there are no tickets. And I haven't logged into LH in about 9 hours. Still searching for a pattern with the wrong results and delayed cache of the counters though.

I'm observing the problem too. We have multiple shared ticket bins with "responsible:me" in the query. I wonder this can be be related to the issue.

It is related. The counts get cached for the first user to view the ticket bin. I'll have to re-architect the ticket bin implementation, or at least the caching implementation.
